DDC, the Domus Design Collection, occupies 134 Madison Avenue, and unlike most addresses in this guide it owns the building's design tenancy rather than renting a suite in someone else's. It is a family business three generations in and it was among the houses that brought contemporary European furniture to the American market.

What it carries is more than forty represented brands, Minotti, Magis, MDF Italia, de Sede, Edra and Paola Lenti among them, plus Material Lab, DDC's own line. Minotti is the significant one, because the Minotti New York flagship is operated by DDC inside this building rather than existing separately, so the brand and its dealer are one visit.

A living scheme can be assembled across houses that would otherwise mean four appointments in three neighbourhoods, and the staff have the cross reference a single brand showroom cannot.

DDC's contact page states that the showroom is open by appointment, Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 6. Book before travelling. DDC also sells design services, site visits, mood boards, space planning and installation, on residential and hospitality work.

A dealer carrying forty brands has a house view about which ones suit a job, and that view is useful rather than suspect as long as it is asked for openly. Put the constraint on the table first, the budget, the lead time and the lift dimensions, and let the floor be narrowed to what can actually be delivered before anything is chosen on looks.
