August is the quiet month. Most galleries are on summer hours and many are closed Fridays, showrooms are running skeleton staff before the fall market, and the trade is largely out east. If you are in the city check out The Haas Brothers’ work concurrently on view at the Museum of Arts and Design April 8 through August 21, 2026 and at 82 Franklin Street.
Two Greenwich Village townhouses became one. The Commission spent the hearing on what the street would see.

On September 1, 2026 the Landmarks Preservation Commission heard LPC-27-01049, a Certificate of Appropriateness for 63 and 65 Charles Street in the Greenwich Village Historic District, Manhattan, Block 621. The application is to combine the two houses, demolish the party wall, build rooftop and rear yard additions, and excavate at the cellar and rear yard. Three commissioners asked that some of the party wall be kept. Deputy Counsel answered that the Commission has approved removal and reconstruction of party walls many times before. The motion that passed asks the applicant to work with staff on separation at the rear yard addition. It carries no condition on the party wall. The vote was nine in favor, none opposed.
