130 William was designed by Adjaye Associates, 66 storeys and 242 residences in the Financial District, and it is the practice's first tower.

The facade is hand cast concrete, textured to a rough porous surface and darkened almost to black, with bronze at the openings. The windows are arched, oversized, and set in a rhythm drawn from the mercantile buildings that once stood in this part of the city. The floors step back slightly against each other so the elevation carries a sawtooth line rather than a flush one.

The arch is what an interior has to answer. Every window head in the building is a curve fixed by the facade, so anything mounted at the head of an opening, a track, a blind box, a valance, has a curved soffit above it rather than a flat one, and a treatment specified for a rectangular window will not fit. The arches are deep and bronze framed, which gives a real reveal to work into.

The openings are large and repeat floor to floor, so light reaches well back into the plan.
