40 Bleecker Street, 10012
40 Bleecker was designed by Rawlings Architects, twelve storeys and 61 residences built new inside the NoHo Historic District, with interiors by Ryan Korban.
The facade is hand finished limestone with bronze detailing, and it curves. Corners are rounded, the top three floors step back, and the windows are grouped vertically in pairs spanning two storeys within a narrow grid that runs across the long Mulberry Street elevation and the shorter Bleecker Street front.
The two storey pairing is what an interior meets. A window belongs to a vertical group rather than standing alone, so the pier between groups is a fixed solid running the height of the building and appears in the same position on every floor. Rooms at a rounded corner meet the glass on a curve, so a straight run of casework stops short of the turn.
Floors are engineered oak milled from reclaimed Italian wine barrels, a finish with a wear layer thick enough to be refinished rather than replaced.
