The Kent was designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, thirty storeys holding 104 residences in Carnegie Hill, with interiors by Alexandra Champalimaud.

The elevation is brick, limestone and metal drawn to an Art Deco pattern. Horizontal stone lintels break down the scale of a six storey podium that holds the street wall, and a five storey south wing is built to match the height and material of the walk up next door.

Ceiling heights vary widely, from around ten feet to around fifteen. That range is unusually wide for one building, and it means the scale of a room changes substantially between apartments. Millwork and window treatments drawn for a ten foot room will read as undersized in a fifteen foot one, and the height has to be taken from the specific apartment rather than assumed from the building.

Being masonry with punched openings, the walls between windows are solid and will carry fixings.
