Holly Hunt built a business on representing other people's work before it made its own. The house was founded in Chicago in 1983 and the New York showroom occupies two suites in the D&D Building, which puts the furniture and the textiles on separate floors.
What it carries now is largely its own: furniture, lighting, leather, and the Great Plains textile line, woven to specifications that are not sold under any other label. The reason to know the history is that the Christian Liaigre collection was made and sold here from 1994, and pieces from those years still come back through the secondary market carrying the Holly Hunt name rather than his. A designer sourcing Liaigre of that period is looking for a label that no longer exists on anything new.
It is in the D&D Building at 979 Third Avenue, which is open to the public, and buying requires a trade account. The two suites are on different floors, so seeing the furniture and the textiles in one visit means planning the order rather than wandering between them.
Leather is the thing to see rather than specify from a card here. The hides are shown in full, and a hide's grain and its dye take vary across its own area in a way a memo sample does not record. That is an argument for the trip that a fabric card cannot make.
